Artist from America painted his face every day for a year. Everything from cartoon characters, to vegetables, burgers and animals. He says ‘I am an artist, drag queen, former nudist, born again Christian, average 46 year old guy’ but I’m not sure if there is anything ‘average’ about him.
The stickers have been about for ages but this video someone sent round just now, reminded me of them.
I prefer the stickers. I mean, would you approach a guy wearing a mask like that? Exactly. I do think to increase the chance of someone feeling sorry for you and actually waking you up, it would be good to give a reason why you are sleeping. For example, a sticker might read ‘New dad. Haven’t slept for weeks. Please wake me up at Shepherds Bush’. That’d do it.
DJ from California. Has been making funky disco-tinged house music for a few years now. I have brought quite a bit of his stuff lately. Check out his myspace page. Love it.
Young British artist from Manchester. Has an exhibition on at the Forster gallery, round the corner from our offices in Shoreditch. They say he ‘explores the physicality of the human body whilst also drawing comparisons with baroque sculpture and iconography, creating a sort of “optical hyperactivity” through his seductive paintings, their content, style and surface seamlessly intermix into intense imagery’. I just like the burst of colours personally….
I’m well over the Nuts glamour model/car/football/gadget stuff and laddy ‘journalism’ BUT…this is a cool idea. They have worked with a top nutritionist to come up with a menu for the ‘modern man’, relating different foodstuffs to situations common to their readers. It might just be the first genuinely useful ever to have come out of that magazine. Fun too.
We had a cake making competition in the agency today and there were some fine entries. Of particular note are the revolting but brilliant skinned cat, the credit crunch, pigs head and swollen member (with obligatory cream). All below.
